East Maricopa Natural Resource Conservation District Business Plan 2007-2009
Mission Statement:
The mission of the East Maricopa Natural Resource Conservation District is to provide technical assistance and education for conservation of natural resources to rural and urban land stewards.
Vision:
Take care of the land and the land will take care of you.

Statements of Intent
1. Promote the East Maricopa Resource Management Education Center
A. Present activity-based natural resource demonstrations to elementary, middle schools, and other community groups.
B. Purchase educational and training materials on various natural resource topics.
On going the Ed Center will pursue additional funding through grant proposals.
On going the Ed Center will present water conservation education programs to at least 3000 students and 100 teachers.
On going the Ed Center will support Superstition Farm events, increasing Ed Center productivity.
On Going the Ed Center will teach OHV education programs.
On going the Ed Center will develop promotional items (Display, signage, materials).
The Ed Center and District will support Envirothon and local schools.
2. Promote water conservation within District Boundaries.
A. Promote and assist with the ADWR BMP program.
B. Refer Cooperators to NRCS Chandler FO staff for IWM assistance.
C. Establish a cooperative relationship with cities within district on Urban water conservation issues.
On going the District will work with Hohokom RC&D on urban water conservation.
On going the District will invite city officials to the monthly board meetings.
3. Provide assistance to dairies within Central Arizona.
A. Inform dairy operators of impending regulations in the Legislature.
On Going the District will support the AFO/CAFO Education Group.
On going the District will refer dairy operators for assistance to the NRCS Chandler FO staff.
4. Keep Cooperators informed of conservation issues within District boundaries.
A. The District will support NACD and AACD.
B. Develop District promotional materials (display, signage, materials).
C. Create dialog with the SLD regarding agricultural and grazing leases of state trust lands. –The District will invite SLD officials to monthly meetings.
D. Establish partnerships with other state and federal entities to address natural resource issues. The District will invite ADWR, Farm Bureau, USFWS/USFS and others to monthly meetings. The District will support the Farm Bureau City-Ag partnership.
E. Develop and promote new district programs. – The District will support Superstition Farm, and sponsor projects through the Hohokom RC&D Council.
